Salt Lake City,  abbreviated to SLC and referred to as Salt Lake, is the largest populated city and the capital of Utah. Salt Lake City has become known as the “urban gateway” to the many national parks and recreation areas of Utah. As our license plate so proudly states, Utah is home to “the greatest snow on earth”, which has created a strong outdoor recreation tourist industry based primarily on skiing. This well-known fact helped seal the deal when it came to hosting the 2002 Winter Olympics. The games were a financial success, being one of the few in recent history to profit  The Olympic venues now are being used for local, national, and international sporting events and Olympic athlete training. Hosting the Olympic games was an overall positive experience for Salt Lake City and has since increased tourism immensely.  Tourists come from all over the world for a little taste of what the Salt Lake Valley has to offer.

Salt Lake City was recently named one of the “most Hip cities in the world”.  I was curious to know what they meant by that, so I did some research. What I concluded is that “Hip” refers to being fashionably current and in the know. Being Hip also refers to being informed about the latest styles, ideas, and developments. I thought that was pretty interesting. It explains the influx of the modern architecture and eclectic neighborhoods that are being built. Whether you are looking for a cool tattoo parlor, a fun PUB, or the newest cafe, Salt Lake City is full of rich things to do, see, and eat. A city dotted with movie theaters, shopping centers, and museums, it is not hard to find something enticing to do with the city life.

If you are more the adventurous type looking to enjoy the outdoors, well, Salt Lake City has got that area covered as well. Whether you are an avid hiker, snow bunny, bird watcher, nature enthusiast, biker, or just want to get out and walk on the trails, this area is full of options for you no matter what the season.  Wherever you live in the Salt Lake Valley, you can get to an appealing area in not much time. There are so many canyons that you can enjoy on a nice Sunday afternoon drive if you just need to get out of the city. Whether you live here, visit regularly, or are just passing through, there is something for everyone.
